Painting Calipers... | |
When I bought the 9 bolt rear from Jay's GTA, he'd painted the rear calipers red. So I then had 2 red calipers and 2 rust colored calipers - time to buy some paint! Parts Used: Steps: 1) Lift car and remove wheels (usual precautions apply) 2) Use a wire brush or other cleaning method - get the calipers / pads, etc clean 3) Remove caliper bolts if you don't want them painted! 4) Mask off anything and everything 5) Spray, wait, repeat, until happy 6) Clean off overspray (I used a small brass cup brush in my dremel) 7) Install caliper bolts if you removed them 8) Admire the shiny calipers (won't stay that way) 9) Replace wheels, lower car, etc Lessons: | |
First I tried removing the caliper and spraying only the caliper... | It was fine until I installed it - I didn't like the look, and some paint came off during the install... |
Then I left the bolts out, but painted it in place... | I also painted the back of the pad and part of the mount... |
Before... | And After! (Yes, I KNOW the shocks are blue...I'll paint them some _other_ day!) |
Here's how it looks with the wheel on... |
